Why Young Adults Leave the Church

If you followed YAOW for any length of time, you know we are passionate about keeping more young adults in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

We feel the parent’s role is critical in raising their child the way God directs; from little child to adulthood. This reduces the chance that their child will walk away from their faith when they reach adulthood.

We’ve done lots of parenting blogs about the topic, created a Biblical Parenting Tips Book, and launched a free Parenting Seminar on what God’s direction is for parents concerning Love and Discipline. All this in an attempt to inform parents about the problem, and equip them to raise their children as God directs, from very young to adulthood.

John Stonestreet from the Colson Center recently did a podcast on why young adults are leaving the faith. I highly recommend you listen to it. You can find it here.

I hope this podcast helps you to understand the issue the Church is facing in today’s culture, and gives you encouragement to parent the way God directs.

Ken works for Amazon Web Services as a Support Operations Manager. Ken has also served on the boards of other non-profits like the DFW Technology Prayer Breakfast, and the DFW Help Desk Institute.

Ken, and his wife Karen, have been married for 28 years, and have a 27 year old son. They live in McKinney, TX, just North of Dallas.

As Ken and Karen repeatedly witnessed many Christian students who were active within the Church walk away from their faith shortly after graduating high school, they grew frustrated.  Studies show that about 70% of young adults leave their faith after graduation, which is a huge issue since they are the future of the Church.  After much prayer and searching God's direction for many years, the Leaman's felt His calling to start a ministry to address this problem.  In 2014, they gathered like minded Christian professionals to help begin Young Adults of Worth Ministries.  We believe that this ministry is from God, and it will be blessed by Him for His glory alone.
