Today is Palm Sunday. Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a young donkey. While the people waved palm branches and began to shout Hosanna to the King, a cry for salvation from the oppression of Rome. Jesus calmly accepted the adoration of the people. This event began the most significant eight days in history.
Let us look at this day, on Sunday 29 March 33 AD. Now, suddenly being called King did not seem to agitate Jesus. He was a man on a mission.
The below verses describe what happened. My Sunday School teacher Dr. John Hannah gave these verses to our class today. Read them together with your children and discuss the events.
Matthew 21:1-17
Mark 11:1-10
Luke 19:29-38
John 12:12-19
Throughout the week, read the below verses each day. They will explain what happened up until Sunday 5 April 33 AD.
Monday – Matthew 21:18-22, Mark 11:12-14, 19-25
Tuesday – Matthew 21:23 – 23:39
Wednesday – Matthew 24:1 – 25:46
Thursday – Matthew 26:1-75, John 18:1-18
Friday – Matthew 27:1-66, John 18:28 – 19:42
Saturday – Jesus in the grave
Sunday – Matthew 28:1-20, John 20:1 – 22:14
This week was very monumental! Sharing your beliefs through Jesus’ death and resurrection, and having discussions, can help shape your children’s beliefs. Jesus knew He came on this earth to live and die for our salvation. This should compel us to repent and trust in Him, and love and forgive others.
