YAOW Update

Hello friends of Young Adults of Worth ministries (YAOW). We thought we would send you an update on what we have been up to, since we haven’t done that in a while. Thanks for your continued prayers and financial support. Without you, we could not do what we do.

We wrapped up our 4th Biblical Citizenship in Modern America class this week, and we had people from all over the country join. It is a free online Zoom class which is every Thursday at 7pm CST for 8 weeks. It covers the true Christian influence of America history; including the pilgrims, founding fathers, the Constitution, and how you can be Salt & Light in today’s America. Click HERE to see a video and to register for the one which starts April 7th.

We continue our partnership with the Union Young Adult ministry. They are a community of Christian young adults from across Collin County (McKinney, Plano, Frisco, Melissa, Wylie, Allen). They gather together to create a discipleship community specifically to walk together in a discipleship journey to follow Jesus. They are a young adult ministry that complements the local church by creating a discipleship environment for young adults to lead in, grow in, and minister to each other in. They meet Thursdays at 7pm CST at TPC Commons, 121 S. Tennessee St, McKinney, TX. Click HERE to checkout their website.

We attended and were a vendor at the [un]Apologetic Evangelism Conference in Crandell, TX on Dec 4, and then again in Jacksonville, TX on Jan 22. These conferences were from the Baptist General Convention of Texas. It was very encouraging to see hundreds of students and older adults who came to learn how to articulate and defend their faith. These conferences had exceptional speakers such as Frank Turik and Greg Kunkle.

On Feb 16, we went to the University of North Texas (UNT) and spoke to the Ratio Christi students. The topic we presented was, Who were our Founding Fathers; Atheists, Agnostics, Deists or Christians? Ratio Christi thinks that apologetics goes beyond defending the faith. They uses apologetics to share the Gospel and to strengthen Christians for the challenges that they face on college and university campuses. Check out their website HERE.

Were a vendor at the Reality Student Apologetic Conference on Feb 24-25 at Cottonwood Creek Church in Allen, TX. Hundreds of students, young adults and older adults attended. They had exceptional speakers like Greg Koukle, J. Warren Wallace, Alan Shlemon, Tim Barnett, Jon Noyes and many others. Click HERE for information on the next conference which will be in Philadelphia, PA on March 25-26.

Some of you are faithfully praying and/or financially donating to reach 18-30 year olds, and to equip parents to raise up their children in the way they should go, as Proverbs 22:6 says. If you are not yet, we invite you to join us. Click HERE to give a tax deductible donation. Since we are a small 501c3 non-profit with no paid employees, every dollar given goes to towards doing God’s work.

Ken Leaman

Ken Leaman has a passion for students, and for over 30 years has been volunteering within churches and other ministries, leading and mentoring students. These churches are:

Ken works for Amazon Web Services as a Support Operations Manager. Ken has also served on the boards of other non-profits like the DFW Technology Prayer Breakfast, and the DFW Help Desk Institute.

Ken, and his wife Karen, have been married for 31 years, and have a 30 year old son. They live in Allen, TX, just North of Dallas.

As Ken and Karen repeatedly witnessed many Christian students who were active within the Church walk away from their faith shortly after graduating high school, they grew frustrated.  Studies show that about 70% of young adults leave their faith after graduation, which is a huge issue since they are the future of the Church.  After much prayer and searching God's direction for many years, the Leaman's felt His calling to start a ministry to address this problem.  In 2014, they gathered like minded Christian professionals to help begin Young Adults of Worth Ministries.  We believe that this ministry is from God, and it will be blessed by Him for His glory alone.
